It is of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, in Alps of High-Provence (a region in Southern France) where Alain Ducasse, chose to open his country inn :

La Bastide de Moustiers

Formerly the property of a master-potter, La Bastide was a country house with 7 beautiful bedrooms. In 1998, 4 new rooms and 1 suite were added, each of individual design and named after Provençal themes. The house was restored and renovated with the help of local artisans. The interior designing and thus, the ambiance, is the work of Tonia Peyrot.

In the kitchen working behind the scenes, you will find Wilfrid Hocquet and his team (all of them are former pupils of Alain Ducasse). Each day two menus with 2 or 3 dishes are proposed by the kitchen team. Their cooking, awarded one star by the red guide (Michelin) in 2002, has the flavors of Provence and the Mediterranean. Although country-style, it is also delicate and sometimes surprising. They make the most of the home grown produce from the Bastide vegetable garden and the local markets.

Alain Ducasse wanted his inn to be warm and welcoming so that each guest will feel at home. Everyone is invited to wander around, even the door of the kitchen is open.

There are several activities that are proposed so that each day is unique and pleasurable.

Since December 1998, la Bastide de Moustiers joined the independant hotels chain « Châteaux & Hôtels de France », of which Alain Ducasse has taken the presidency.

At the foot of the village of Moustiers, very near to the Gorges du Verdon, he has created a little corner of Paradise.
