The tastes and flavours of the Verdon

Visiting the Verdon Gorges means treating yourself to a moment of culinary adventure prepared with local products, all of which are available at the traditional markets of the villages in the region. Experience and savour a gourmet getaway in Provence.

Let your taste buds guide you as you explore the mouth-watering diversity of Provence! In these unspoilt areas, nature is generous and local artisans bring the produce to life, inspiring chefs and delighting gourmets: lavender honey, clear and creamy, has a registered designation of origin and can be enjoyed in its natural state in the villages, in some original dishes in kitchens, in baking with the famous Moustiers biscuits, and even in honey beer... Gnôle de Provence, Pastis, Génépi and other original plant-based aperitifs will surprise those who enjoy liqueurs. Pay a visit to the markets of the most beautiful villages in the Verdon for a pleasant outing exploring the colours and flavours available on the market stalls, the brightly coloured fruit and vegetables and the cheeses from the surrounding farms before treating yourself to some delicious tasting. An original way to discover this jewel of the Verdon: take time to admire the stunning landscapes of the Lake of Sainte-Croix aboard the Estelle, the Bastide's boat. A great chance to enjoy a peaceful moment sailing these amazing turquoise waters.

A few kilometres from the Bastide, the Lake of Sainte-Croix, a true natural wonder, delights travellers with its typical colours and the beauty of its surroundings. And to fully appreciate the tranquillity of the lake and get away from all the hustle and bustle, step aboard the Estelle: this silent and environmentally-friendly fully electric boat, named after the star (Estelle in Provençal) that has shone above the village of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie since the 17th century. Once on board you can savour a breakfast prepared by the chef and his team or a gourmet outing with a meal basket: opt for a unique visit of the Verdon Gorges region!
